RAIN! and Lightpainting

So we actually got rain!  I was washing breakfast dishes after Matthew left for work and noticed the droplets on the pine needles of the majestic pine that grows next to our steps.  I don't really know how to use his camera, but this is what happened!

I waited very patiently for one of these to drop off, but after waiting 10 minutes out on the deck, flat against the house to not get rained on, in my robe, no less, I gave up!

Later on, in the afternoon, the sun came out!  Matthew texted me to go outside to look at the rainbow.  He was going between buildings and noticed it.  I took tons of pictures, it was amazingly vivid.  Then I texted Vanessa to see if she had seen it.  Kind of a 'rainbow alert'!

I love this one with the light on trees.

Vanessa's parents arrived on a Friday and went to Brad and Vanessa's for dinner.  We and Nelson and Cherisa joined them.  This is my lovely sister-in-law, Sarah Beth!  She is always ready to have fun.  Here she was cold, plus had on an apron and then Grandpa's hat to top it off!
Grandma and Grandpa Jorgensen, Arlene and Charlie, from Washington.

On Sunday the assembly put on a reception for us.  Sorry I don't have any pictures of that.  It was really nice and lots of fun.  I wore my wedding dress and Matthew dressed up in his suit with a grey shirt and blue tie.

We were going through some boxes as we organized things and Matthew came across his big camera flash thingy.  We got the tripod and went outside to have some fun!

Campfire?
He did 30 second exposure and had a blast being crazy!

He tried a few shots of the stars as well.  Still a bit too light, but really cool!

Fell in love with this at Target!  Ridiculously priced, but super cute.
Not that I have anywhere to put it either!

This post is several random things, over about a week or 2, the end of November.  Cherisa's shower happened the same weekend as our reception and Grandpa and Grandma being here.  I'm going to do a separate post for that.  Talk to you soon!

Did you all feel like lightning bugs?
Could you really see that many stars?

  2. No, we could see lots of stars, but not near that many!
