We sat here for a long time and just looked. Occasionally part of the glacier would break off. It would crumble down into the rocks which funneled it back together and it would come pouring out like a waterfall, roaring the whole time.We thought this self closing gate was pretty nifty! Made Matthew think of his dad and me think of Poppa Clem!
A little more yoga after two big hiking days and before sitting in the car for hours!
Trying to get out another New Zealand update! Still in Takaka. By the way check out this map to see the road traveled over this post.
The next day it rained some. This is the clouds blowing in.
Wet sheep!Wet Margaret! The wind blown sand had made some neat designsThis is Wharariki Beach. Supposed to be a pristine beach with seals and stuff but we could hardly see anything due to sand and salt pelting us! Cool experience just the same!
Stopped at this spring. Highlighted in yellow on the left of the map.See that out there in the middle that looks like boiling water? That's water gushing up from underneath! stopped for lunch and a nap in CollingswoodWhat else should you do when posing next to a penguin crossing sign?cool rocks on the beach
Pretty shellWalking the beaches while the tide was outEarly sun washed fields!
Arriving in Christchurch after a long day of drivingWent to see the Maori welcomesinging, dancing, and games to the music
We really liked this sleep out Airbnb that we stayed at!Matthew's dinner
Picnic time - sardines anyone? We found out that lupins are not native to New Zealand. They are actually crowding out native plants. They are so pretty though!Only for dad would I put my feet my feet in glacier water! I think this was Lake TekapoAnd this is Lake Pukaki. If it wasn't for the clouds on the other end, we should have been able to see Mt. Cook.My amazing tour guide, hiking partner, fellow foodie, and all around best friend!
Just a few jumping jacks before getting back in the car! And weird as it is, remember, that IS my side of the car!
Going to keep these shorter so they don't get messed up and delayed getting out!
